2016 Toyota Prius Hybrid Price and Release Date

Toyota comes across something of a crossroads with the future fourth-generation 2016 Toyota Prius Hybrid hatchback. The iconic form of the game-changing hybrid represents smart fuel-cutback motoring to its faithful owners. The next gen Toyota Prius is expected to come with an innovative platform, refurbished interior and its appreciable mileage will make the new vehicle the iconic gas-electric, go-to option among hybrids. The redesigned features of the new Prius hybrid, such as better fuel economy, massive backseat, roomy cargo part and high-tech features and choices would make it a tough contestant to its rivals.

2016 Toyota Prius Hybrid Changes

Though the exterior styling is not much modified, Toyota has taken much effort to offer a more aggressive external look than its predecessor. It is expected to come with a lower hood and a more vertical windshield. Toyota claims that an all-fresh exterior design of the new Prius will perk up the aerodynamic efficiency, whereas a novel chassis under the sheet metal provides a lower center of gravity and guarantees enhanced handling. The body of the new Prius hybrid will be constructed with lightweight materials with the intention of reducing the overall weight of the vehicle.

Toyota Prius 2016 Interior

The 2016 Toyota Prius interior will get some modifications on its dashboard and instrument panel. The prototype dashboard appears more conservative, with analog meters at the back of a novel three-spoke steering wheel, replacing the current information exhibit perched distant in the center of the dashboard. Furthermore, a center stack surround in a tape mess and slapped-together components, making it inflexible to visualize where a navigation exhibit might go. Overall, the new Prius is expected to have a roomier interior, distinguished design and layout modifications, and superior simplicity of use.

New Toyota Prius Specs

Under the hood, the new Toyota Hybrid hatchback comes equipped with an Inline-4, 1.8-liter engine that was used to power the outgoing model plus smaller electric engine but has more power than in previous models. This naturally aspirated engine with new sets of cylinders offers the vehicle the required power of 135 HP. It uses nickel-metal-hydride battery(optional nickel metal hydride or lithium-ion battery) which gives maximum combined output of 150 hp which is more than the power received by the outgoing model.

In terms of mileage the engine offers a combined mileage of 55 to 60 mpg, which is also more than that of the outgoing model that gave a combined mileage of 55 mpg. The maximum marks of 60 mpg can be achieved by the new Prius when its engine is combined with a more efficient motor, equipped with a lithium ion battery set. Possible electric range is expected to be increased to 20 miles, even 30 miles (estimated).
