The GT86 from Toyota is going to get its initial facelift since its introduction in 2012. The mid-cycle change will bring both additional power and fresh lines to the 2016 model year. However, the 2017 Toyota GT 86 is not going to get a major power improvement. Buyers can expect it with a body panel revamp, and it will not too fundamental. This is for the reason that the new GT 86 is made on the similar assembly line as that of the Subaru BRZ, so the redesigning process is expected to be performed within the set parameters.
2017 Toyota GT 86 Redesign, Exterior
Even though the overall size and shape of the new 2017 Toyota GT86 appear to have remained unaffected, the front and back parts are expected to get some revisions. The front fascia of the new vehicle will be equipped with a considerably altered bumper that has a wider intake, which extends more toward its sides. It will also be equipped with new fog lights, with the smaller mounted sockets, owing to the wider intake. The headlights are expected to come with new graphics and they will be designed with the LED technology.
At the back, the 2017 GT 86 would get a redesigned bumper and a modified diffuser, which incorporates bigger exhaust pipes. The taillights of the new vehicle would feature updated graphics, as well. On the other hand, the spoiler atop the trunk cover is broader that suggests the coupe will have enhanced aerodynamics, as well. All exterior elements are identical to the existing GT 86 and that are not likely to modify on the production vehicle, except for novel wheel designs and perhaps one or two new body colors.
The 2017 Toyota GT86 may also get modified Sachs dampers as standard, in addition to a reinforced back suspension sub-frame for better back-end rigidity.
New Toyota GT86 2017 Interior
Unfortunately, Toyota has not yet revealed the new Toyota GT86 2017 interior features. However, it is expected that the cabin would get some major changes when compared to that of the outgoing model. It is expected that the cabin would be equipped with an updated safety features and infotainment system. If anything, the automaker might intervene slightly with the rather messy center stack and insert novel upholstery options and perhaps a more athletic steering wheel.
Specs, Engine, 0-60
There have been many speculations regarding the plans of Toyota to upgrade the engine, and although the vehicle has been crying for additional power since its introduction, the automaker has not yet confirmed about that.
According to rumors, the 2017 Toyota coupe would be equipped with a turbo-four, 2.0-liter engine. This engine is expected to offer the new vehicle a higher power output of 200 HP when compared to 197 HP offered by the engine in the outgoing model. The additional oomph would come due to revised internals that would bring a slight improvement in fuel cutback, as well.
The new FT 86 is expected to come with the same transmission options as that of its predecessor, but both the six-rated manual and automatic transmissions would get some updates. As a result, it will attain the speed from the start to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds, which is two-tenth quicker than the outgoing model. The maximum velocity of the new coupe is 155 mph.
Price and the release date
For the new Toyota GT86 2017 release date is expected to be the last quarter of 2016. Regarding pricing, the next gen GT 86 equipped with the manual transmission would cost about $27,600 whereas the automatic transmission model would cost about $28,700.
